All data on this page is sourced from publicly available BBB (Better Business Bureau) profile pages. Data is collected daily via automated audit. Cancel Timeshare is included in the comparison on equal terms. No company can pay to alter their score or position. Below is a complete description of every column and how each score is calculated.
BBB Rating
The letter grade (A+ through F) assigned by the Better Business Bureau based on complaint history, business age, transparency, and other factors. Read directly from the company's BBB profile page. BBB assigns and updates these grades independently.
Accredited
Whether the company holds current BBB accreditation. Accreditation is a paid, voluntary status that requires the business to meet BBB standards including complaint responsiveness, advertising honesty, and transparency. Read directly from the BBB profile.
Founded
The year the business was established. Source precedence: (1) BBB Business Started date on profile page, (2) BBB yearEstablished field, (3) vetted fallback when BBB founding data is missing.
Pricing
Whether the company publishes pricing information on their website. Determined by: (1) checking the homepage for links to /pricing, /prices, /cost, or /plans; (2) scanning for dollar amounts; (3) probing those paths with HTTP requests. A company shows 'Yes' if any check succeeds. Cancel Timeshare publishes tiered pricing directly on canceltimeshare.io/pricing.
Reviews
The total number of customer reviews listed on the company's BBB profile. Read from the reviewsTotal field in BBB's profile data. This count includes all star ratings (1 through 5).
Average Rating
The mean star rating across all customer reviews on BBB, expressed as a number from 1.00 to 5.00. Read from BBB's averageOfReviewStarRatings field. This is calculated by BBB across all reviews, not sampled.
Complaints (12 months)
The number of closed complaints filed with the BBB in the past 12 months. Read from the totalClosedComplaintsPastTwelveMonths field. BBB counts complaints that have been processed and closed, not open or pending disputes.
Complaints (3 years)
The number of closed complaints filed with the BBB in the past 3 years. Read from the totalClosedComplaintsPastThreeYears field. This is the standard BBB reporting window for complaint history.
One-Star Percentage
The proportion of sampled BBB reviews that are 1-star, expressed as a percentage. Calculated by dividing the count of 1-star reviews in the sample by the total sample size. Up to 8 pages of reviews (the most recent) are sampled per company.
Reputation Risk Score (0 to 100)
A composite score measuring consumer-facing reputation risk based solely on BBB data. Higher scores indicate higher risk. The score is the sum of applicable weighted signals, clamped to the range 0-100.
Anomaly Risk Score (0 to 100)
A composite score measuring review-pattern irregularities that may indicate inauthentic or manipulated reviews. This score does not prove misconduct; it flags statistical patterns that warrant further scrutiny. Higher scores indicate more anomalies detected. The score is the sum of applicable weighted signals, clamped to 0-100. Scores are reduced by 8 points when fewer than 20 reviews are available.
Data collection process
- Source: All data is extracted from publicly accessible BBB profile pages at bbb.org. No proprietary or paid data sources are used.
- Frequency: The audit runs automatically once per week at 09:17 UTC (Monday). Each run collects fresh data for every tracked company.
- Review sampling: Up to 8 pages of the most recent customer reviews are collected per company per run. This typically covers the most recent 80 reviews. Metrics like one-star percentage and anomaly scores are calculated from this sample, not the full review history.
- Year founded: Extracted using source precedence: Business Started date on BBB profile page first, then BBB yearEstablished field, then vetted fallback override when BBB founded-year data is missing.
- Pricing on website: Determined by fetching the company homepage listed on their BBB profile and checking for pricing-related links (/pricing, /prices, /cost, /plans), scanning for dollar-amount patterns, and probing common pricing paths with HTTP HEAD requests.
- AI text detection: When enabled, a sample of reviews (minimum 90 characters, up to 60 per company) is analyzed by a language model to estimate the probability of AI-generated or templated language. Detection results only contribute to the anomaly score when corroborated by behavioral patterns (duplicate text, burst posting, or extreme rating skew).
- Equal treatment: Cancel Timeshare is audited using the same automated process, scoring weights, and thresholds as every other company. No manual adjustments are applied to any company's computed scores. For Cancel Timeshare, year founded and pricing visibility are independently verified and may supplement BBB data when that data is missing.
- Canonicalization: When a brand has multiple BBB profiles (for example, entity or location variants), profile rows may be merged into one canonical company row. The table shows profile count and links to each underlying BBB profile to prevent profile-splitting from obscuring total complaint and risk context.
Limitations and disclaimers
- This comparison reflects publicly available BBB data at the time of the most recent automated audit run. BBB ratings, complaint counts, and reviews may change between audits.
- Reputation Risk and Anomaly Risk scores are statistical indicators, not legal findings. An elevated anomaly score does not prove fraud or misconduct. A low reputation risk score does not guarantee service quality.
- Review sampling covers up to the most recent 80 reviews. Companies with large review volumes may have older reviews not reflected in anomaly metrics.
- AI text detection is probabilistic and may produce false positives or false negatives. It is treated as a supplementary signal and only affects the anomaly score when corroborated by independent behavioral patterns.
- Pricing detection relies on automated website scanning and may not detect pricing information displayed in non-standard formats, behind login walls, or on subdomains not linked from the homepage.
